Patricia Ann DeJong

Patricia Ann DeJong, age 71, of Wyoming, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, April 26, 2018. She was a devoted wife, a wonderful and supportive mother, and a very devout Catholic. Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Ymen “Hoppy” Peter DeJong; daughter, Catherine Ann DeJong; brothers, Frank Clark and Paul Clark. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Annette (Jonathan) Cole, John (Brandy Haines) DeJong, Jim (Anna) DeJong, Joe DeJong; grandchildren, Brice DeJong, Zachary DeJong, Cody Simunic-DeJong, Psaia DeJong, Logan Savage-DeJong, A’Della-May DeJong; sisters and brothers, Cynthia Clark-Robbins, Bob (Donna) Clark, Mark (Deena) Clark, John (MaryEllen) Clark, Jean (Arvid) Edson, Mary Eileen (JB) Brinks, Caroline (Keith) Chapin, Joan McHale, Fran Jacob; sisters-in-law, Jacqueline (Ken) Huizen, Valerie (Michael) Murray; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday 11 am at St. John Vianney Church, 4101 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Fr. Steve Geerling presiding. Interment Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Wyoming) 4031 Clyde Park SW with a Prayer Vigil at 6pm. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Beautiful You by Profile or Lacks Cancer Center.

My condolences to the DeJong families. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of dear Pat. Some Bible scriptures that have helped me during times of loss include Isaiah 26:19 and Psalm 37:28,29 which says "Your dead ones will live...They will rise up". And the Bible also says at John 5:28, 29- "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". This is possible thanks to the ransom of Jesus Christ. Thus, we have a genuine hope of everlasting life in a world without wickedness or suffering. I hope that these scriptures will be of some comfort to you.

I'm so very sad to hear of Pat's passing! We were classmates at CC & she was in my homeroom! We actually double dated to one of our proms! And she was also so sweet as to throw me a bridal shower so many years ago! She was always such a sweet person & was part of our luncheon group, getting together on occasion! My sympathies to your family! She will be dearly missed!

Such sad news about our dear classmate, Pat. She was so precious and sweet. We all loved her dearly at St. Francis and at Catholic Central, she was a friend to everyone! Saw her at the last St. Francis reunion luncheon, she looked great! My deepest sympathy to all her family and friends, she was such a special lady! God’s peace! She was so loved!
