Tena Van Singel

Tena Van Singel, age 89, of Jenison, was called to her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 22, 2018. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Gordon, and her grandson, Steve Van Singel. Tena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who treasured her family. She was a strong woman of faith and a faithful prayer warrior. Tena was actively involved with Bible Study Fellowship and women’s prison ministries for years. She was kind and selfless, someone who always put others needs before herself. She enjoyed the outdoors, feeding her birds and working in her beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and children, making many memories over the years together. Tena will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 71 years, Gordon; children, Linda and Terry Buit, Doug and Swanda Van Singel, Jan and Mark Janke, Nancy and Bob Slusser; her grandchildren, Melody and Craig Newhouse, Jeff and Kerrie Buit, Heidi and Greg Gelder, Brandon and Amber Van Singel, Brad and Beth Van Singel, Dave and Kelly Janke, Dan Janke, Tim Janke, Tony and Darcy Slusser, Tena and Tony Hassevoort, Tricia Slusser, Troy Slusser, and Trevor Slusser; 19 great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harris and Connie Van Singel; her special niece, Patti Gezon; many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, February 26, 2018, at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin Street, Jenison, with Rev. Donald Van Slyke officiating. Interment Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to  Mission India or Voice of the Martyrs.
