I went all through grad school and high school with Steve. Such a classy guy, who treated everyone with respect and dignity. I've known very few people who have lived such exemplary lives. Rest in peace Steve. You will be sadly missed by your family and friends. Sandy (Mack) Vandenheuvel

I loved Steve, he had become a very special friend to me over the past few years. He loved life, rode his bike for endless miles. He had the most beautiful smile. Most of all he loved his wife Rudy with all his heart. It is so hard to imagine him being gone. I know he was a man of true faith and is in the presence of our God. Forever healthy and alive in Christ. It is a sad, sad day knowing he is gone but hopefully we shall find pease and comfort knowing that he is with God. Elaine Williams

Having Steve as a friend for the past 63 years was a gift few people experience. We competed against and with one another, shared our feelings, and provided mutual encouragement. Like everyone, Karen and I were shocked at Steve's sudden passing but are comforted by knowing he left the world a better place. Jim and Karen Stover

Words can't describe the sadness that I felt over hearing that this wonderful man with such a soft and kind-heart, had gone and left this Earth. Then I thought of you Rudy...I can't imagine the feeling of loss that you are going through! It was only a couple of weeks ago that I saw you and Steve out walking the streets of Grand Haven. Both...full of life and love for each other. If I can give you, Rudy, any comforting words now, it is this...You will see him again! As believers, death has no sting! We jump from Earth - eternity with our Lord Jesus in Heaven and all that have gone before us. We will all see Steve again! He just went ahead of us all! Time on this earth is so short compared to eternity. He is there now waiting for you and all of us that know and love him. There is no sadness there, but tears of joy and unspeakable LOVE! My sincere condolences to the family. May God provide all of you with strength and courage during this time of sorrow. In his word, God promises to soon bring our loved ones that have passed away back to life again at Isaiah 26:19 and John 5:28, 29. God also promises to remove all sufferings and death forever at Revelations 21:3-5. May these heartwarming promises soon to come bring comfort to the family as you all cherish loving memories of Stephen. Nadia

I am so sorry for your loss Aunt Rudy and Skip. You guys were there for me last May and I will never forget that. I wish I could be there with you now. I am sorry I can't. You have been and will continue to be in my prayers. Uncle Steve was such a great person. I have nothing but good memories of him. I will hang on to those for the rest of my life. I am proud to have his name. I have told so many people about him over the years because of my name and was proud to do so. God bless you as you go through this. Love you Steve Contreras

Dear Rudy; From the very first moment I met you and Steve you both became special to me. In this day and age where it can be hard to meet people Steve had become my best friend. He was so intelligent, kind, witty and compassionate how could you not love being around him.The best times and greatest conversations I have ever had were over those wonderful dinners with you, Steve and Elaine where we solved all the worlds problems. My heart is so heavy and sad today for the loss of my best friend but I know i will see him again in Heaven where he will ride up on his bicycle and with his trademark smile say "HELLO DOUG." I know God has welcomed him into his kingdom with his everlasting arms and may you receive some peace and comfort in knowing how much we all loved Steve and you. May GOD bless and give you strength in the days ahead. Doug Winters Doug Winter

I'm a writer by career and it's totally clear to me that because I began blogging, the quantity I create has enhanced significantly, my daily communications with the sights of others have actually never been so frequent, the range of voices I captivate with is far more than in the pre-Internet age-- and all this has actually assisted me end up being much more modest as a thinker, additional open to mistake, less fixated on just what I do understand, and much more respectful of just what I don't. If this is a degeneration in my brain, after that more, please.business Anonymous
