Ronald Richard Bloom, age 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 2, 2022. Ron is preceded in death by his infant son, Jeffrey Bloom; father, Marion Bloom; and mother, Tina Mae Bloom. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife of over 62 years, Vernell; his son, Ron (Barb) Bloom; and daughters, Beth (Steve) VanSlyke, Peggy (Tom) Corpe and Cindy (John) Brondsema; sister, Sharon Bloom; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Al and Barb Smith and several nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; as well as long-time friends, Dan, Mike, Bob, Roger, Campi, and all his dear friends from the Cherry Pit Yacht Club. Ron served our country in the US Army from 1956-1959 and soon after began working for the State of Michigan, and retired as the Physical Plant Superintendent of the Michigan Veteran’s facility after over 30 years of service. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer and spent many hours in his woodshop and caring for his beautiful lawn. Ron’s love for football led him to coaching for youth and junior high teams for many years, and in recent years he became a super fan of Ferris State Football. All these hobbies and interests aside, his family meant the most to him…Ron loved that his family was very close, and he cherished all the family gatherings and was so very proud of his kids and grandkids.
