Ralph Rotman, age 87, of Allendale, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. As a veteran, he proudly served his country in the US Army. He was a former co-owner of Allendale Heating. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; daughter-in-law, Pam Rotman; brothers and sisters, Jay and Ellna Rotman, Harold and Eunice Rotman, Francis and Gene Elzinga, Alma Rotman; sister-in-law, Joan and Sidney Posthuma. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Ernie and Melanie Rotman, Sharon and Mark Oesch, Beth and Bob Rosema, Rick and Inge Rotman, and Lori and Ron Burgtorf; grandchildren, Michael Rotman and his fiancée, Heather Lake, Michelle and Brian tenHaaf, Randy Rotman, Daniel Rotman, Ray Oesch, and Stephanie Oesch; 7 great-grandchildren; brother, Joe and Ruth Rotman. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 11 am at First Allendale Christian Reformed Church, 5734 Country View, Allendale, with Rev. Timothy Howerzyl officiating. Interment Allendale Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 4-8 pm at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (corner of Avery and Scott) 6651 Scott St., Allendale. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to First Allendale Christian Reformed Church or Mel Trotter Ministries.

Your Dad and Grandpa was a special man. I always enjoyed talking to him, whether it was when he visited Esther at the nursing home, when he was there himself or the times I occasionally ran into him at the store. He always had a smile and a great attitude. I'm sorry that I missed the visitation. I would have liked to express my sympathy in person, but I just saw this now. You will all be in my prayers.

So sorry to hear about your father in law, Melanie. I'll be keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers as you celebrate his life and grieve his passing. I'm sure he was a wonderful man with whom you've shared many wonderful times.

So sorry to hear about your father. Tom had many good talks with him at the heating co. We will not be able to attend any visitations or funeral. Will is getting married on Saturday. You are all in our thoughts and prayers
