Phyllis Brown

Phyllis Marie Brown, age 73, of Hastings, passed peacefully into the gates of heaven, with her loving children by her side, on Tuesday, February 21, 2017. Phyllis was born on April 14, 1943 in Mt. Pleasant, MI to Hazel and Ralph Coles. She joins her parents, mother, Martha Leist, 3 sisters, Beverly, Edith, and Greta, and the love of her life, Gaylord. She loved spending time with her family and dear friend, Jill. Her memory is carried on lovingly by her children Tonya, Gaylord (Jeff), Teresa (James) Borton, Tami (Rob) Cronce; grandchildren, Chris (Jessica) Sayer, Emily, Meghan, and Caleb Borton; one great granddaughter, Hannah Sayer; sisters, Mary Leist, Carol Leist, Paula Leist; brother, Butch Leist; many, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 12:00 pm at Peace Reformed Church, 6950 Cherry Valley Rd, Middleville, with Pastor Ken Kuiper officiating Relatives and friends may meet the family from 10am until the time of the service at the church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the family to help offset funeral expenses, ℅ Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE.

Dear Brown family, please except my deepest condolences for the loss of your dear loved one Phyllis. May Jehovah, the God of all comfort, (2Corintians 1:3,4) comfort you in your time of need. His word assures us at Isaiah 33:24 that one day there will be no more sickness and at Isaiah 25:8 and Revelation 21:4, that one day death will be no more. At John 5:28,29, Jesus himself said that there will be a resurrection of those loss in death. And Psalms 37:29 guarantees that they will live again on a cleansed earth. I have known Gayord for several years and finally got to meet Phyllis when Gaylord graduated ECPI. After meeting her i knew then and there where Gaylord got his humor from seeing them together here in VA it was more like seeing brother and sister then mother and son. May she be at peace in the arms of the lord and keep the laughter going till we all meet in heaven God must have needed a special angel real bad this time

Aunt Phyllis, It seems like yesterday when all of us kids were playing in the playroom and I stuck the paperclip in the socket. I have so many fun memories with you and the family. I take comfort in the fact you are not suffering and that you are with Uncle Gaylord, my daddy, your sisters and many others. I love you and will cherish all the love you gave me. Dear Momma, Thank you Mom, for always loving me, without judgement, and unconditionally. Tiger and i both said 'what we wouldn't give for one more hug...' i don't know what I'll do not being able to call and talk to you or see you, hear your voice, and of couse always hear 'i love you and I'm proud of you'. It's just all too soon. I imagine you with Aunt Sally, Aunt Edith and Grandma and Grandpa Coles, all in the presence of our Lord....how happy you must be! No more pain, or tubes or needles...only joy, peace and love. That is how i will survive this. Walk, run, and dance with the angels and know i love and miss you, SOOO much! Until we hug again, Tonya
