Mark Gerald DiTrapani, age 54, of Grandville, was called home to his heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. He was preceded in death by his dad, Jerry DiTrapani, and his son, Mark DiTrapani II.  Mark was a loving father, son, and brother who had a huge heart and put others before himself.  He had a contagious fun-loving personality that was evident to all who knew him. He worked as a barber alongside his dad, “Jerry the Barber”, at DiTrapani’s Barber Shop in Grand Rapids for many years, establishing many friendships during his time there. Mark enjoyed working on cars, specifically Corvairs, and was also a member of the Corvair Club. He will be  lovingly remembered by his children, Sharayah, Jessica, Felicia, Ben, and Grace; his mother, Betty-Lou DiTrapani, his brother and sister-in-law, David and Shelly DiTrapani; his step brothers, Joey and Jenni, Jerry and DeeDee; several loving extended family members.  A celebration of Mark’s life will be held on Saturday, February 29, at 11 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Fr. Chris Rouech officiating.  Interment will be held at Graceland Cemetery at a later date.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice.

I’M FREE Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free, I’m following the path God laid for me I took his hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play Tasks left undone must stay that way, I’ve found that peace at the close of day If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow My life’s been full, I’ve savored much, Good friends, good times, my loved one’s touch If my time seemed all too brief, Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief Lift up your heart, rejoice with me, God wanted me now, He set me free. Rest In Peace, Mark.

So sorry for your family's loss. I will always remember Mark as having a smile, great sense of humor, and a contagious laugh. It was so good to see him at our class reunion and to catch up. I pray for peace and eternal rest for Mark as his suffering is done on earth. Rest in peace Mark.

Mark Brightened The Room with his smile and always was real. He told it how it was. I've known Mark since our time in High School at Jenison High School. As an adult, I occasionally would talk to him and our other mutual friend Tammy Benninger. She also is a Wildcat from Jenison High School. We all had fun Dancing at Magoos near the Ramblewood Apartments. We all were care free laughing. I will remember you Mark as a bright star and hope. Youthful and Smiling. Your friend Gina.
