My daughter, Kristen, and I traveled to Turkey with Dave and Marilyn on an unforgettable trip to Turkey! We were reminiscing just yesterday about some of our most significant memories. One of mine was the servant hearts of Dave and Marilyn when I was struggling to make it to the summit in a climb near Psidian Antioch. They relieved me of my backpack and water and walked arm and arm with me until we all arrived together at the top! I was shocked to read of Marilyn's death today and want to express to your family 8how much I admired her. I pray for God's loving presence to comfort you as you grieve her absence and to encourage you as you imagine her beautiful reunion with Jesus. Deb Borst

Some of my earliest memories include "Aunt" Marilyn and "Uncle" Dave. (The only non family that ever earned that honorific w/ us.) Marilyn's kindness had a lasting impact on me... I can't imagine how many are out there whose lives were enriched by her. My thoughts are with Dave, Grant, Curt, the grandkids, and all who knew and loved her.

So sorry for your loss, words bring little comfort. When one loses a wife and mother we begin to recognize that death truly is as described at 1 Corinthians 15:26 "the last enemy" let us all look forward to the fulfillment of that scripture where it says that it "will be brought to nothing" May God bless and comfort you.

Dave and family, you have our deepest sympathy. My first memories of Marilyn was during Freshman English at Calvin College. She sat right behind me and we had a good time.

Marilyn taught both of our boys at West Elementary. She always had a welcoming smile on her face and a lively engaged classroom. We are very grateful for her bright light and all she gave of herself towards their education journey. God bless you all during this most challenging time of life.
