Marilyn J. Zondervan

Marilyn J. Zondervan, age 73, of Byron Center, joined the eternal living and her Lord after a five month battle with health issues on Thursday, March 29, 2018.  She enjoyed people and deeply loved teaching reading to first graders over the past 30+ years.  Marilyn also loved music, baking and waterskiing. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Janette Smith; in-laws, George and Jo Zondervan; and her brother-in-law, Donald Zondervan. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, David Zondervan; children and grandchildren, Grant and Cherie Zondervan (Lili, Jill, Brian Williams, Michael Williams), Curt and Shannon Zondervan (Emma, Anna, Jack); brothers, Dave and Elsie Smith, Len and Beth Smit, Peter and Dianne Smit; sister-in-law, Carol and Norm Tilma.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Ivanrest Church, 3777 Ivanrest SW, Grandville, with Rev. Tony Meyer officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Sunday, April 15, 2018 from 4-8 p.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grandville Calvin Christian Schools or the Christian school of one’s choice.
