Maria Solano

Solano, Maria E , aged 95 of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 1, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents Alvaro Ramirez and Emilia Solano. Maria is survived by her children, Vilma Mercedes Melara, Carlos O. Melara, Ana Cecilia Diaz, Gilberto Diaz, and former Daughter in Law, Adela Melara 9 Grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and three Brothers; Mario, Roberto and Alfredo; Special friends Phil Howe and Marolyn Villalobos. Maria obtained her Teaching Certificate in El Salvador, Central America, where she taught for 30 years. After moving to the United States, she attended Latin American Services Senior Center where she worked and volunteered for many years. She was named mother of the year in 2017 at the Service center where she attended. Her smiley face and pleasant personality allowed her to make friends any place she went. She enjoyed great health and independence and was able to lend a helping hand whenever she could. The family will greet relatives and friends Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00pm at Stegenga Funeral Chapel- Wyoming, 3131 S Division Ave. Wyoming, Michigan.
