Ken Coke, age 88, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Kentwood, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 29, 2020. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Marie; sister, Doris Gritter; brother, Dale Cok and baby sister, Faith. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Carolyn; children, Jim Coke, Doug Coke, Kristie and Tim Rozelle, Dan Coke; grandchildren, Brian and Kimberly, Annie and Dylan, Katy, Jenny, D.J. and Becca, Matt and Melissa, Josh, Michael, Zack; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Stuart Cok; sister, Audrey “Joy” and Bruce Schuurmann; brothers-in-law, (Barney-deceased) and Sherry Veltkamp, Sherm and Eva Veltkamp, Vern and Nita Veltkamp, Larry Veltkamp, Darrell and Shirley Veltkamp; many nieces and nephews. Ken served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He worked in Grand Rapids construction trades, with most of his career working as a plumber. Ken was a founding member of Princeton Christian Reformed Church in 1964, served several terms as a deacon and remained a member of the church until his passing. He also served a term as Treasurer for the Guiding Light Mission. Ken enjoyed cars and his son Doug’s racing career, becoming a regular at Berlin Raceway and Kalamazoo Speedway. His family and friends were touched by his graceful and quiet love, and Ken possessed a keen sense of humor. Ken helped strangers and friends alike; even a simple visit was a treat because all company knew that he had a huge Christian heart. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Princeton Christian Reformed Church, 5330 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood. Livestream of the service can be viewed at www.youtube.com/princetoncrc. Relatives and friends may visit the family from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Due to gathering restrictions, there will be a limit on the number of people who may enter the building at a time. Ken will be buried at Pine Hill Cemetery in the neighborhood he lived for over 55 years. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Princeton Christian Reformed Church Mission Fund or to Guiding Light Mission.

Uncle Ken was so beloved by our whole family... I so many fond and hilarious memories of him. He was a gift to everyone blessed to know him and he will be missed.
