John Soderberg

SODERBERG - John (Jack) Lawrence Soderberg age 88 passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017. Jack was abandoned at a hotel in Chicago, when he was one. He was adopted at the age of two by Pearl and Algot Soderberg. He was a beloved husband to Claire Cottrell for 62 years; adoring father to Cynthia (Michael Blakely) Soderberg, Wendy Elias, Paul Soderberg, Gary Soderberg, Mary (Bob) Gerling, Patrick (Kristen) Soderberg, and Susan Ellsworth; adoring grandfather to Andrew, Tony, Brittany, John, Dante, Rob, Candice, Mindy, Nick, Jamie, McKenna, Jack, Alexandria and Austin. Jack proudly served his country in the US Army as Master Sergeant on the front lines of Korea. Jack was a lifetime, die hard Cub fan. He put his arms around many young men and ladies to teach the proper stance with a Louisville Slugger. Jack will be greeting all the angels and saints with "You're lookin good today!" Memorial mass will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Our Lady of Consolation, 4865 11 Mile Road NE, Rockford. His family will greet relatives and friends Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Drive NE, Belmont and one hour prior to the service at church on Saturday.
