June 11, 2025

Our sweet mama, Harriet, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. She was born on June 4, 1930, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Harriet loved and served her Lord by being part of many different ministries throughout her life. She always had a smile on her face even though she dealt with chronic pain daily. Harriet was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a gifted listener and cared about people, demonstrating Christ’s love through her prayers, words, and actions. Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Longberg. She is survived by her three children, Carol and Denny Bishop, Sheryl and Don VanderZouwen, Daniel and Kathlee Longberg; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A private family graveside service will be held at Grandville Cemetery. A celebration of Harriet’s life will be held on Thursday, June 26, at 7 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Pastor James Wells officiating. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Our Daily Bread Ministries or Moody Radio

If it weren't for your Mom and Dad, I don't know if I would have ever met and married my husband. Paul and Harriet were the first people to introduce and invite my husband, Kerry to coffee time and Sunday School. After we married, and had 3 daughters of our own, we would go visit Harriet from time to time. She always shared stories of my Grandpa, who I never knew. I know she lived with a lot of pain and discomfort. It's comforting to know she is pain free and with the Lord. You're all in our thoughts and prayers.

Harriet was a warm, loving, thoughtful, and faithful person. I will miss her, but I'm happy she is out of her pain and with her Savior.

Harriet was one of the sweetest women I’ve ever known and you’re right about her smile - it was beautiful! She loved the Lord and she cared about people. My mom was just telling me that she & Paul had a ministry in CA when they were newly married and were very active in Youth for Christ here in Grand Rapids. Harriet will be missed, but she’s right where she wants to be ❤️
