Gordon L. Bordewyk

Gordon Lee Bordewyk, aged 89, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, February 20, 2017. Gord worked at Keebler Company (originally Hekman Biscuit Company) in many capacities for his entire career. He loved his God, his family, and his golf (in that order). He is survived by Sylvia, his wife of 66 years; his children, Gordon Jr. (Karen), Laura (Thomas) Wiersma, Jesslyn (Walter) DeBoer. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Rachel Bordewyk Katie Oland, David Bordewyk, Natalie Wiersma, Dennis DeBoer Philip DeBoer, Marissa DeBoer, along with six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. A Memorial Service will be held at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 700 Ethel SE on Friday, February 24, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Rebecca Jordan Heys officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Grand Rapids Christian Schools, 1508 Alexander SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506 or Zuni Christian Mission School, 19 Pia Mesa Road, Zuni, NM 87327.

Sylvia and all of your family, I am the oldest of Henry's children and remember Gord as a young man and cousin. Roger called me to let me know. My prayers are with you all.So hard to believe he was 89. I am 75 now and remember looking up to him when I was in Jr. High and High School. Be well in knowing that God is with us always and God is always Good. Big hugs from FL.

Dear Bordewyk family, please except my deepest condolences for the loss of your dear loved one Gordon. May Jehovah, the God of all comfort, (2Corintians 1:3,4) comfort you in your time of need. His word assures us at Isaiah 33:24 that one day there will be no more sickness and at Isaiah 25:8 and Revelation 21:4, that one day death will be no more. At John 5:28,29, Jesus himself said that there will be a resurrection of those loss in death. And Psalms 37:29 guarantees that they will live again on a cleansed earth. I remember when my grandma was sick, Sylvia and Gord would come to the hospital and take me to lunch or just sit with me. I am grateful for their kindness and generosity.
