Fred Tiesenga

Fred Tiesenga, aged 83, was released from this life on Thursday, May 5, 2016. We commend him to the mercy of God in hope of resurrection to life eternal. He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Andrew (friend, Sally), Robert (April), Cheryl; grandson, Nicholas; sisters-in-law, Corinne Phillips, Marian denDulk, Norma (Bob) Niemeyer, Joanne Byl, Doris (Tom) Koning, Esther (Gary) Baas; and many nieces and nephews. Leaving this life reminds us of Question 1 of the Heidelberg Catechism: “What is your only comfort in life and death? Answer: That I am not my own but belong to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ.” Funeral services for Fred will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo SE with Pastor Craig Scott officiating. Interment in Blain Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5-8 pm and Tuesday from 10 – 10:45 am. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Grand Rapids Right to Life or Faith Hospice.

Dear Donna and family, we just learned of Fred's passing and want to offer our condolences as well. Although we only see you in the summertime, we think of your family often when we come home at Gun Lake. We knew Fred's health was declining and are saddened by his death, but as Christians, we all know he is in a very much better place, surrounded by a lot of good people! We wish him Godspeed and to you and the family, we wish comfort. the Tiesenga Family has been a great neighbor to us and we thank for for that,as well. Hi Donna and family, I just saw Fred's notice of passing today. You, Fred and your family were the best of neighbors for 22 years. It couldn't have been better. I'm so sorry you lost your best friend but I'm sure he's happy in his eternal home. My condolences to a great friend and even greater family. Our prayers are with you and your family.
