Remembering Douglas Blacquiere

Doug H. Blacquiere, age 69, of Grandville, Michigan, passed away peacefully to be with his Lord on Monday, March 16, 2026. Family and faith were at the heart of his life. He had a wonderful sense of humor and found joy in making others laugh. An avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and running, and was always happiest when he was outside. Skilled with his hands, he could build or fix just about anything with the right tools. He cherished visiting his children across the country, but his heart always belonged to Arizona, a place he truly loved. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Virginia Oyler; parents, John and Henrietta Blacquiere; sister, Linda Johnson; sister-in-law, Connie Blacquiere; and nephew, Andrew Blacquiere. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mary Jo Blacquiere; children, Rebecca (Eric) Heemstra, Kevin (Sini) Blacquiere, and Scott (Tara) Blacquiere; son-in-law, Luke Oyler; 10 grandchildren; siblings, Karen (Jack) Strowenjans, Kathy Blacquiere, David Blacquiere, Rick (Lynn) Blacquiere, and Jaci (Tim) McKee; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW, with his sons, Kevin and Scott Blaquiere officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods

Mary Jo, Becky, Kevin, Scott and your beautiful families. We love you all so very much ❤️. Hugs❤️. So grateful Rick was able to come up and spend time with you, see his brother smile and say his goodbye to his big brother. We rejoice in knowing he is dancing on those golden streets worshipping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with Virginia and Andrew ❤️.

We loved our time with Doug playing cards, church, Bible studies, shooting black powder rifles but mostly playing cards on Sunday afternoon. His rendition of Johnny Cash "I hear a train a coming..." Will never be forgotten. Love to the Blacquires Dwight and Tracey King

Doug, you and I knew each other since the 5th grade. There is one thing I wish I could have done for you one last time and that is sing "Tip Toe Through The Tulips" like Tiny Tim. I remember how much you loved me for that! 😂 I will be seeing you in a little while. Peace be with your family during this time of mourning. So long friend.
