August 8, 2023

Donald Scott Hamann, age 63, of Wyoming, MI and Bradenton, FL, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at his home while surrounded by his family in his man-cave. Don was a 1977 graduate of Rogers High School. Over the years he worked several jobs including at Blodgett Hospital, Lear Siegler-Smith Industries and as a journeyman with Delphi Tool & Die. As an avid outdoorsman he loved fishing, hunting, camping, and boating. Every year he would return from deer camp with a new rack to hang in his man-cave. During his younger years he also enjoyed summer visits with his parents to the Maston Lake family property. Don married his wife, Barbara in Key West, FL in 2005. Together they spent the Michigan winters in Bradenton where they enjoyed spending time at the pool clubhouse, or visits to the Moose Lodge on Anna Maria Island. Don’s favorite pastimes included grilling, fish-frys, being on the pontoon, reading, or enjoying a beer with friends. He was also a member of the UAW local #330 and #167. He will be greatly missed by many for his friendship, willingness to lend a helping hand, and easy-going personality. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Barbara Jo Hamann and sister, Gail Hamann. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 18 years, Barbara; beloved dog, Pearl; children: Bradley (Erica) Hamann, Nick (Sarah) Hamann, Katie (Jason) Hamann; step-children, Christine (Todd) Hugmeyer, Jason McCarty; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Kim (Joe) Hamann, Kelly (Tom) Wood; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; best friend, Bradley (Brenda) Staffen; and many more friends who have been impacted by Don over the years. Relatives and friends may meet the family for a memorial visitation Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming. Friends can also join the family to have a beer on Don at the Wyoming Moose Lodge #763, 2630 Burlingame Ave SW, Wyoming. In the short time I knew him, he made a huge impact on me. He taught me patience. His gentle nature with everyone impressed me. He listened to me when I needed someone to talk to. He stood by me when I needed support. I wish I had told him these things. I will miss him.

Barb, we are so very saddened by your loss of Don. We're praying for you and your family, to find peace and comfort in your great memories. We are going to miss him on the corner, sitting on his truck, with you and Pearl by his side. Always a laugh or kind word and a wave when we drove by. He was a joy! We loved him and Meesha did too!
