December 25, 2024

Charles “Sam” Geiger, age 83, of Grand Rapids, was called home on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Huey Geiger; sister, Carolyn Aldrich.  He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 62 years, Carol, who he met in 8th grade; daughters, Cynthia (Jim Steele) Geiger and Catherine (Jay) Schripsema; grandchildren, Kennedy, Cassidy, Charlie, Jack, Sam, and Miller; and brother-in-law, Jerry Aldrich.

Sam proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Sam retired from United Airlines after almost 40 years as a general manager at the Gerald R. He also had a passion for airplanes, history, reading, and sharing all the things he had learned over the years.

Leave Your Tribute Message

Carolyn, we send our deepest condolences to you and the girls. I have so many fond memories of Cousin Sammy from our vacation trips to New Orleans to see Aunt Huey & Uncle Charles. We both shared the name "Sam" (my middle name being Samuel) from our Grandfather Sam Wright and the white hair from Granny Wright. May God Bless you at this time. Love, Mark & Michelle Pfaffe
