Carolyn Kent

Mrs. Carolyn “Carrie” M. Kent, aged 69, went home bound for glory Monday, August 31, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Elaine White. Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Paul Kent; children, Steven (Melissa) Kent, Jennifer (Matt) Mellema; grandchildren, Bryce, Alayna and Wade Kent, Benjamin, Kathryn and Samuel Mellema; brothers, Kenneth (Sharon) White, Bernie (Dawn) White; sisters, Valerie (Dennis) Mooney, Sandra (Phil) Roy, Janice White; many nieces and nephews. Carrie received her nurse training at Butterworth School of Nursing and spent 48 years as a RN with her last 38 years in the Emergency Department. Her love and passion for nursing allowed her the opportunity to mentor 100’s of young nurses over the course of her nursing career, teaching them about the true art of nursing that they didn’t learn in school. She also enjoyed sharing her faith with both her peers, her patients and anyone else she ever met. Carrie received many awards voted on by both her peers and her patients. She was a member of West Cannon Baptist Church where she served in various ministries. She cherished her church family and loved worshiping with them. Carrie’s pride and joy were her family, especially her grandkids. A celebration of Carrie’s life will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 4, 2020 at West Cannon Baptist Church, 5760 Cannonsburg Rd.
