Barbara Jean Bockheim

Barbara Jean Bockheim, age 68, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 13, 2025. She loved sharing with others and helping those in need. She also enjoyed her dog, Lilly, but her grandchildren were the apple of her eye and brought her great joy.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Ben Carson; step children, Caleb and Kaci Carson, Kelly Meyers, Chaim and Payton Carson; 3 grandchildren: Rayn, Cecily, Camilla; mother, Holly Weih; brothers: Dan and Sharon Weih, Mike Weih; very close friend, Cheryl Lord; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Bockheim; father, Ernest Weih.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood, with Pastor Mark VandenBerg officiating. Burial will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet the family Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home. Those who wish may make donations to help defray funeral expenses. I’m am so sad to hear that my friend Barb has left her earthly home but rejoice that she is now with her Lord and savior! I worked with Barb at Detroit Ball Bearing. She took me under her wing and showed me what to do. She had a quirky sense of humor and got joy out of the smallest things. Someone once called me Karmel and the name stuck. From then on I was Karmel to her 😊. I left Detroit Ball Bearing and moved to South east MI and we lost touch. But then Facebook came along and we reconnected. She came to the funeral home when my dad died (18 years ago) and that was the last time I physically saw her. Even though I didn’t see her a lot I still thought of her as a very special friend!! She helped me understand some of my God issues with her faith in Him. She was one the most sincere Christians I know. I will miss her, her sense of humor, and her love for the Lord!! Rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus my friend. ✝️
