Ashley Marie Drake

Ashley Marie Drake, age 34, peacefully went home to be with her Heavenly Lord and Savior on Friday, October 19, 2018 due to sudden and unexpected complications following a pulmonary embolism. Ashley was born on July 13, 1984 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is survived by her parents, Bob and Brenda Drake; her brother Taylor (Vanessa) Drake; her grandparents Norm and Lois DeWeerd; aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Dale and Bonnie Drake. Our beloved Ashley was such an amazing spirit and has touched so many lives. The passion she had in everything she did was uncanny. She loved kayaking, fishing, camping, bowling, and was an avid sports fan for the Lions football and Tigers baseball teams. Her laugh was contagious and she lit up any room with her smile. Anyone who knew Ashley would know that she wanted everyone around her to have fun no matter what they were doing. She will be remembered by many as the life of the party. Ashley’s genuine soul made every single person she knew feel truly special. We are so very grateful for every moment we had to spend with her and now entrust her into the loving arms of her Father up above. She was a graduate of Wyoming’s Rogers High School class of 2001. A funeral service in celebration of Ashley’s life will be held Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 11:00 am at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave SE, Kentwood. Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home, as well as one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
