Mast, Alverne "Al" MAST: Alverne “Al” Mast, age 79, of Jenison went to be with the Lord, whom he loved, on Monday, July 16, 2012. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Ronald. Al will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife of 60 years, Marlene; children, Rick and Judy Mast, Randy and Cheryl Mast, Rodney Mast, Melissa and Phillip Veenstra; grandchildren; great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; brothers, Robert and Harriet Mast, James Mast, Gordon and Phyllis Mast, Rolland and MaryLou Mast; and sister, Betty and Bob Zeinstra. Al served in the US Army for two years as a staff sergeant before returning home to his bride and young family. At that time, he began his life-long career as a poured wall contractor and land developer. Al was a man of integrity, had a strong work ethic, and was intentional in all he did. He held dear his wife, children and grandchildren. Al enjoyed playing golf and spending time with the friends he made through the years at Sunnybrook Country Club where he was a member for 38 years. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Drive with Pastor Lee Buer officiating. The family will greet friends from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund of Al’s home church, Jenison Bible Church. Al’s family would like to thank all who have come along side during this time with care, prayers, and concern on our behalf.
