Yvonne “Vonne” Visser

September 7, 1927 ~
December 16, 2024

Yvonne "Vonne" Joyce Visser, age 97, of Jenison, formerly of Wyoming, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024, into the loving arms of Jesus. She joins in Heaven her beloved husband, Bill; sister, Judy Lettinga; and great-granddaughter, Jayde VanZalen. She is survived by her children, Pamela and Douglas Stemen, Pete and Mary Visser; Tom and Laura Visser; Tom and Patti Diekevers; 65 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She is also survived by her siblings, Marce Leestma, Mill'e and Ed DeGraaf, John and Marge Kuiper; sister-in-law, Bea Weaver; and many nieces and nephews. Vonne was a child of God, a devoted wife, sister, mom, and grandma great, who loved to sing hymns, hike the Great Smoky Mountains with Bill, go tubing and kayaking with the grandkids (as recently as last summer), and attending every concert, play and sporting event of the family. She loved deeply. Vonne was an energizer bunny moving one step ahead of everyone, never slowing down! She loved visits to North Carolina and was so happy to be living next-door at Sunset Village to her baby sister, Mill'e, with whom she shared a birthdate. Vonne loved to laugh, and loved to laugh at herself and life. Every friend of her children was a child of her own. Their door was open to everyone. Bill and Vonne always had time for conversation and a visit was always welcome. Vonne's version of Chex snack mix - - made with love in a special pan - - was legendary, no one could recreate it. A special thank you from Vonne's family to Angie Menken of Corewell Health Hospice and the staff at Sunset Reflections for the devotion and loving care they gave Vonne over the last two weeks. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 21, at 11 a.m. at Lee Street Christian Reformed Church, 1261 Lee St. SW, Wyoming, with Rev. Kent Rottman officiating. The burial will take place at Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, December 20, from 6-8 p.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. A wonderful cousin. Always enjoyed her sense of humor. And a great mother to her kids and grandchildren. You could ask for nothing better.

May the Spirit of our Lord and Savior walk with you through this difficult time of separation and loss and may the precious memories of your mom fill your hearts with peace and joy until you are reunited once again. Aunt Vonne was very special to so many and will always be remembered with love, admiration and a big smile. Our love and prayers are with you. Sue and Jim Grable

With deepest sympathy to my cousins in the passing of your mother. You were blessed to have such an inspiring mother. To me she was a very special aunt and a compassionate sister to my mother. I never even considered the "in-law" label because Aunt Vonnie blended in so well with the five Visser sisters. It is wonderful that she has so many grandchildren because she is a great role model (not only to her own family, but also to her numerous nieces and nephews).

Dear John and Marge Kuiper and Visser Families: I'm sorry for your loss of Vonne. I remember her from my old neighborhood in Wyoming. Tom knew my brother Jack Holtvluwer.

I loved my Aunt Vonnie. She will be so missed but what a full life she lived! I’m sorry I won’t be able to see my Kuiper family this weekend as you celebrate her. Praise God she rests in glory with our Savior.

Aunt Vonnie was my inspiration. I so loved taking her out on the boat and yes going swimming still in her late 90’s. She was full of joy and energy and I loved how she was always laughing! She brought so much love and joy wherever she went. She lived well and I know when she met her Jesus face to face she heard the words “Well done my good and faithful servant.
