Yolanda “Julie”  M. Capestany, age 91, of Hudsonville, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, surrounded by her family. Yolanda was 34 years old when she immigrated from Cuba, and she and dad gave us a new life here in America. She was a pancreatic cancer survivor at the age of 80, and demonstrated strength in the midst of many trials through her life. She leaves a legacy of love to all who knew her. She was always helping those in need and had such a beautiful heart for others who also were starting a new life in the US. Yolanda was preceded in death by her husband Fernando C. Capestany; son, Fernando L. Capestany; brother Lazaro “Rogelio” Ruiz; sister  Vivian Fernandez.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Nelson and Sandy Capestany, Jorge and Marti Capestany; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Cory and Cathy Capestany, Sara and Brent Walter (Gabriel, Ainsley, Samuel, Josiah), Susan and Aaron Bailey (Anaiya, Landon, Selah), David and Ruth Capestany (Annalise, Joshua, Daniel), Carli and Mac Watson; and her dearest  nieces and nephews and their families. Yolanda was all about her family, she had a compassionate heart for all people, loved babies, and used her skillful cooking talents to please all that were fortunate enough to eat at her table.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 31, at 11 am at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. Milt Doornbos officiating.  Interment Georgetown Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday 7-9 pm, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Holland.
