Remembering Winnie Prins

Winnie Prins, age 96, of Jenison, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday, March 27, 2026. Winnie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was rooted in faith and devotion. She began each day with prayer and scripture, setting the tone for a life guided by grace and strength. Even in the face of health challenges, Winnie maintained a positive spirit that inspired those around her.

She found joy in singing with her church choir and treasured quiet moments spent knitting. Winnie also loved gathering with her family to play games and work on puzzles, creating memories filled with laughter and connection. A true prayer warrior, she faithfully lifted her loved ones up in prayer each and every day.

She was preceded in death by her husband, of 37 years, Gerrit; daughter, Barb Poley; and grandson, Nathan Prins. Winnie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Henry and Mary Prins, Elma Veldman, Derwin and Bev Prins, Marv and Kristi Prins, Carla Kort, Steve and Amy Prins; son-in-law, Jon Poley; 33 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Pete and Ann Gootjes, Paul Gootjes; sister, Annette Gootjes; sisters-in-law, Carol Gootjes, Ann Gootjes, Lorraine Prins; brother-in-law, John Vos; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW with Rev. C.J. den Dulk officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 10-11 am at the funeral home prior to the service. It has been a blessing to know and have so many wonderful memories of Aunt Winnie. She has been an excellent example of a Christian life well lived. My deepest sympathies to Aunt Winnie’s family at this time. May Our Heavenly Father be with you and may you know His peace and comfort. - Liz (Vos) Brock

Winnie was such a joy to all who met her. I so enjoyed helping her in her apartment at Sunset Manor. A truly faithful woman of God

— Marilyn Schurman

It was always a joy to have Winnie help at Forgotten Man Ministries. She along with Tena Van Steinvoorn and Mary Prins would come in faithfully grading the Bible courses and sharing sweet treats along with stories of your big family. She truly witnessed her faith with her family and with us at the Ministry. Only one life 'twill soon be past, only what's done for Christ will last. "For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain" Phil 1:21. Marilyn VanderWoude-Terpstra, former Office Manager
