Wilma H. Vande Guchte, aged 55 of Grand Rapids, left this earth and went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, June 17, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Wilma was preceded in death by her mother, Ann VanderHelm; parents-in-law, Bob and Dorothy Vande Guchte; and brother-in-law, Lambert Veldstra. Wilma is survived by her husband, Rob Vande Guchte; children, Josh and Zach Vande Guchte; father, John VanderHelm; step-mother, Tena (Dykman) VanderHelm; sisters, Mary (Nick) Flacco, Marcia (Dean) Allen; brothers, Bern (Tracy) VanderHelm, Herm (Karen) VanderHelm, Roger (Terri) VanderHelm, Steve (Kim) VanderHelm; step-sister, Kathy Towers; step-brothers, Dan (Kim) Dykman, Ken (Patti) Dykman; sisters-in-law, Jane (Kern) Visser, Jacque Ohanesian, Mary Knoester, Martha Veldstra; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Wilma worked in physical therapy and exercise physiology and was an avid runner prior to her diagnosis. A Celebration of Hope memorial service will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at Alger Park Christian Reformed Church, 2655 Eastern Ave. SE with Pastors David Deters and Stephen DeWit officiating. Inurnment in Blain Cemetery. Members of the family will receive relatives and friends at the Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Chapel (Kentwood), 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions in Wilma’s memory be given to the “Caring for Carcinoid Foundation”, 20 Park Plaza, Suite 478, Boston, MA 02166 or WCSG Radio Station.

Rob and sons - I was saddened to hear of Wilma's passing. You have been in my prayers for quite some time now. Having lost my wife a year and a half ago, I know the difficult journey you will be undertaking. I am looking forward to sharing what I can with you to help you and your sons through this difficult time.
