TURNER - Mr. William Turner, aged 87 of Belmont, passed away Friday, October 28, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Elizabeth; his parents, George and Nina when he was a young boy; brothers-in-law, Donald and Edward O'Brien; sister-in-law, Barbara Andresiak; grandsons, Michael and Darryl Kenyon. Surviving are his children, Gordon (Rochelle) Kenyon, Bruce (Judy) Kenyon, William (Jean) Kenyon, Patricia (Wendell) Koontz, Elizabeth (Gary) Zandbergen, Thomas Turner; grandchildren, Angela Kenyon, Pamela Sedgwick, Ronald (Cathy) Kenyon, Brian (Kathy) Kenyon, Bridget (Terry) Molag, Crystal (David) Lampen, Marian (Ruben) Martinez, W. Paul (Marla) Koontz, William (DeLena) Koontz, Suzan Koontz; great grandchildren, Ryan Sedgwick, Blake Sedgwick, Tim Kenyon, Laura Kenyon, Madelyn Kenyon, Victoria Sanford, Kara Kenyon, Cassidy Kenyon, Julie Molag, Cody Molag, Emily Molag, Elizabeth Molag, Benjamin Molag, Josiah Lampen, Jordan Lampen, Gabrielle Lampen, Ruben Martinez, Gabriel Martinez, Elizabeth Martinez, Sarah Koontz, Emily Koontz, Benjamin Koontz, Kinsey Koontz, Lucas Koontz; great great grandson, Evihn Sanford; brothers-in-law, Dr. Robert (Jinny) O'Brien, Richard O'Brien; sister-in-law, Audrey Witham. Mr. Turner enlisted in the United States Marines on November 21st, 1941, just two weeks before Pearl Harbor, and saw action in the South Pacific. He was wounded at Guadalcanal. The landing at Guadalcanal was the first major offensive launched by Allied forces against the Empire of Japan in the summer and fall of 1942. He recuperated at Pago Pago and in military hospitals in Los Angeles. Discharged Honorably January 1944. Funeral services will be held 12:30PM Monday October 31, 2011 at the Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 1601 Post Dr. NE. The family will greet relatives and friends Monday from 11:00AM until time of service.
