William Lawrence

LAWRENCE - William "Bill" Lawrence, of Mears, went to be with his Lord on Friday, September 30, 2011, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born October 16, 1931, in Muskegon, Michigan, the son of William and Gilletta (Gillette) Lawrence. He attended Muskegon schools, and was employed for 39 years at Teledyne Continental Motors. He was a former member of Orchard View Congregational Church. After retirement, he enjoyed spending winters in Sun City, Arizona, and summers at Upper Silver Lake in Mears, Michigan. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing, but he loved spending time with his large family and many friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 47 years, Patricia Lawrence; children, Lois Ann (Lee) Vernier, Will (Nancy) Lawrence, Earl Lawrence, Jean (Jim) Ritsema, Fran (John) Conner, Mark (Tara Chandler) Collins, Tim (Lynn) Collins, Cherie (Bryan) Gramlich, Tony (Kris) Collins, Anne (David) Cobb, Steve (Jamie) Lawrence; 29 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister, Loretta (Mike) Timmich; brother-in-law, Dick (Shirl) Brooks; sister-in-law, Mary Signs; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Jerry Ross. A Memorial Service celebrating Bill's life will be held 11:00AM Monday, October 3, 2011 at Sytsema Funeral Home - Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, Norton Shores. His family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Muskegon Harbor Hospice or Grace Adventures.
