William J. Mervau, age 81, of Caledonia was taken to his heavenly home on Thursday, November 25, 2021. He was preceded in death by his siblings. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Deanna; his children, Deborah (Steve) Scheidel, Kimberly (Bill) Westra, Michael (Michele) Mervau; grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Ashley, Shelby, Allison, Peter, Reese; and two great grandchildren. Bill was a proud veteran of the National Guard. He also proudly served the Caledonia Fire Department for over 30 years. He was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather who put his family first. Bill loved to work in the yard and was very proud of his yard and garden. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and a founding member of the Caledonia Sportsman’s Club. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9669 Kraft SE, Caledonia, with Rev. Michael Cilibraise officiating. Burial St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm with a Rosary at 7:30 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE, Caledonia. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to West Michigan Humane Society or Holy Family Catholic Church.
