William Jack Huitema, age 84, of Hudsonville, lost his battle with Parkinson’s and went to be with the Lord on Maundy Thursday, March 28, 2024, in the presence of his loving wife, Judy, at Trinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital. Bill was born on January 3, 1940, and was the New Year’s baby for Wyoming that year. Bill worked in sales at McCormick Spice Company for most of his career years. He had been a scout master, Sunday school superintendent, president of Hudsonville Band Boosters, and took care of concessions at football games and at the Hudsonville Fair which was his passion. He loved golfing, bowling, and boating. Bill was a member of Fellowship Church and had been deacon at the former Heritage Reformed Church.

Surviving are his wife, Judy, whom he married on April 21, 1967; sons, Jason (Jen) Huitema, Kevin (Danielle) Huitema; grandchildren, Tiffany Meyer, Victoria (Eric) Day, Kylie (Jack) Huitema, and Alec (Daysi) Huitema; great-grandchildren, Rya Rodgers, Solveigh Kruse, Evihn DeJonge, Sylus Day, and Cooper Day. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jeanette Huitema; sisters, Ruth Roerig, Esther Monte; and grandson, Jessee Fortin.

The family would like to thank his caregivers from Careology and Home Instead, Maddie, Michelle, Ally, and Aaron for making it possible to keep Bill at home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Church, 6610 36th Ave., Hudsonville, with Rev. Shawn Hulst officiating. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday, April 1, from 4-7 p.m. at Fellowship Church (enter through door A or D) and on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Fellowship Church Youth Group.
