William Dwayne McCreary

Bill was welcomed into heaven by his Savior and Lord on March 16, 2024. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years of marriage, Vicki; devoted sons, James “Scott,” and Craig (Mike); brother, Robert McCreary (Sue); sisters, Jeri Jolman (Steve) and Donna Reyes (Rolando); brother-in-law, Joel Bogerd (Kathie); sisters-in-law, Tammi Shymanski (Dave) and Jill Rauser (Dan). He had many well-loved nieces and nephews: Ted McCreary, Michael DeWitt, Josiah Reyes (Melanie), Joseph Reyes, Jeremy Bogerd, Casey (Stephanie) Bogerd, Lindsey (Eric) Smith, Nolan (Allie) Rauser, Jordyn (Josh) Wrozek, Coryn (Michael) James, Claire (Levi) Kauffman, Thad and Trent Shymanski. He enjoyed the friendship and company of many friends both young and old and his hunting buddies. Bill went into the Marine Reserves after graduating from Godwin High School, training as an MP (Military Police). He joined the Grand Rapids Police Department, but after marrying, decided to change careers to sales in the typography field, owning his own business for a number of years and eventually went into printing sales in Grand Rapids until retiring. He was an avid bird hunter, having a special interest in breeding and training AKC bird dogs and hunting at Haymarsh Hunt Club in Lakeview. A quieter pastime for Bill was visiting small towns in Michigan observing architecture, people watching and enjoying going out for coffee with his wife. In later years, he had a passion for studying the Bible, and sharing what he learned with others or anyone who would listen. We will miss his constant, loving presence in our lives, but know he was well-loved and that he loved us. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 11 am at Forest Hills Bible Chapel, 4637 Ada Dr SE, Ada, MI, with Paul Johnston and Rick Larman officiating. Burial will be held at Blythefield Memory Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family on Friday, March 22, from 10-10:45 am at church prior to the service.
