DOUGHTY- William E.Doughty Jr. of Wyoming passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 after a long courageous battle with cancer. William proudly served in the United States Army as a drill instructor during the Vietnam War. William was preceded in death by his father, William Sr.; his brother in law, David Retter and his beloved dog, Max. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Lana; his children, Jennifer Gust (Bob Smiddy), Christine (Shawn) Sage, William III(Kelly) Doughty, Sarah LeForte, Tiffany (Bob) Kern and his mother, Eleanor Doughty. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Joshua (Staci) Doughty, Jacob, Nicholas & Valarie Gust, Hannah & Cheyenne Sage, William IV & Ciera Doughty, Tyler Kempenaar, Christopher Brecker, A'bricia Matthews, Kaitlyn & Isabella Kern, Ethan Graham and Cameron Nygaard; his great grandchild, Elijah Doughty; his brothers, John (Darlein) Doughty and Frank (Teri) Doughty; his sisters, Nancy (Ron) Smith, Bette Retter, Debbie (Mike) Sytsma and Patti (Jon) Jasinski and many nieces and nephews. Bill had a great love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had an affinity for squirrels and could often be seen on his deck with a squirrel sitting on his shoulder eating a peanut. Bill was a longtime employee of Michigan Bumper, working as a HiLo operator. Dad's favorite refrain of the past year was "I'm not ready to go yet, I still have so many people to piss off" Graveside Services with Military Honors will be at noon on Thursday, June 20 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Battle Creek. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, June 19 from 6 to 8 pm at the Ronan-Vanderpool-Stegenga Funeral Chapel, 3131 S.
