William Carl Schmid

William Carl Schmid, age 65, of Wyoming was called to be with his Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Friday, August 21, 2020.  He was preceded in death by his father, Hellmut. He will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Maria Schmid; siblings: Darlene Spanjer, Dorothy (Drayson) Doyle, Fred (Karlene) Schmid, John (Pam) Schmid, David Schmid; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bill was a devoted Detroit sports fan who loved attending Lions, Tigers, Pistons, and Red Wings games.  He was a devoted Michigan fan as well.  He was the coach and manager of the Doyle and Doyle Softball Team for many years and won a championship while coaching.  Bill loyally served his country in the US Army National Guard.  Bill graduated from WMU with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and  GVSU with a Masters Degree in Taxation.  He helped many companies and individuals with their tax accounting. A funeral service will be held on Friday 11 am at Banner Church, 1111 68th St. SW, Byron Center. Burial at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday from 6-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming and  Friday from 10:00 to 10:45 at church. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the USO.
