William “Bill” Wenzel Jr.

William Robert Wenzel Jr., age 71, of Grand Rapids, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his parents, William Robert and LuVerne Wenzel; sister, Linda McCarty.  Bill is survived by his sisters and brother: Patricia and Leonard Williams, Mary Burbridge, Joyce Sanborn, Michael and Terri Wenzel; many nieces and nephews.  The family wishes to express their gratitude to his niece, Vicki Zamora and Ryan VanSolkema and the staff of Hospice of Holland for their loving care.  He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam, and later served in the National Guard.  Bill was active in the Libertarian Party and ran for public office.  He retired after many years from Chessie Railroad System (CSX).  He loved estate sales, working in his garage and yard, competitive shooting, playing cards, dice and croquet. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday 11 a.m. at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4031 Clyde Park SW, Wyoming, with Pastor Dennis Gilbert officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Lowell High School Shooting Club.

    My condolences, and I hope that these promises from the Scriptures will help you endure the loss of Bill, for Jehovah is the God of all comfort. “Do not be anxious…..but in everything by prayer and supplication along with thanksgiving, let your petitions be made known to God; and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your mental powers by means of Christ Jesus.” Isaiah 26:4; 2 Corinthians 1:3-4; Philippians 4:6-7 NWT. Peace, and many happy memories of Bill be with you.
