William Van Egmond

April 18, 1939 ~
December 19, 2022

William “Bill” F. Van Egmond, age 83, of Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 19, 2022. Bill was a kind and loving husband, dad, and brother who was blessed with a servant’s heart and was always there to help in whatever way he could. Blessed with a strong work ethic, he worked at Huizen’s Furniture and retired from Herman Miller after many years of dedicated service. He was a longtime member of Lee Street Christian Reformed Church. Bill lived out his faith by example and his love for Jesus was evident to all who knew him. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Henny Van Egmond; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Mike Vanderwall; sister and brother-in-law, Trudy and Arend Verkade; brother, Pete Van Egmond; many loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws; his long-time dear friends, the Huizen family; several nieces and nephews. At Bill’s request, cremation has taken place. A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be announced at a later date in the spring.

Bill and I have known each other for 60 years. He was always a good friend and in the last 20-30 years we were able to do more together. In the 10 days before he passed we talked about how life is unpredictable and we need to live each day to the fullest. Last fall Bill helped me with rides when I had car trouble more than once. There are more memories than I could begin to relate. I will miss him till I can see him in Heaven, once again.

Bill lived a few houses down the street from us...He was a kind a gentle man...I had no idea that he had passed away in December 22....I also have no information on his wife Henny who I was told was residing in a assisted living facility...Theresa Brining knows nothing about this either and as a neighbor of many decades would like family or someone to share and update her..Thanks..616 534 5046... Theresa Bruining....... Please accept our deepest sympathies.

All of us at Newhall Christian Fellowship will miss Bill. We are backyard neighbors to Bill and Henny. One year we had a church garden by their backyard fence and we watering issues, no water pressure because of the distance from the church supply to the garden. Bill came to the rescue and helped me set up a sprinkling system from his house to the garden. I would come and turn on the water and we would visit and he would turn off the sprinklers. We canned 30 jars of tomatoes(Henny was delighted) from that garden and had beans and melons. Bill always had a smile, a kind word and a quick witt. We at the church will miss him.
