William “Bill” Murray Beattie, Jr.

William “Bill” Murray Beattie Jr., age 78, of  Allendale, was born June 2, 1939 in Grand Rapids, MI, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on June 4, 2017. He was preceded in death by his forever loving wife, Vonda A. Beattie; daughter, Cheri A. Noteboom; parents, William Beattie Sr. and Ruth Sanford.  He is survived by his daughters, Vonda Fitzgerald, Chloa (Bob) Van Dam, Viola (DerrickFreeman, Millie (Bill) Van Dam, Jackie McClure (Chris Koorndyk), Roxann (Larry) Thompson; 21 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; sisters, Gloria (Jack) Burg, Pat (Jan) Pietrzyk; nieces, Karen (Duke) Bultsma, Kathy (David) Stuart, Holly (John) Harms; several cousins, great nieces and nephews. Bill attended South High School and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard for 9 years. He worked at GM for 30 years before retiring and settling in Allendale where he joined the Allendale Fire Department as a volunteer. He enjoyed staying busy delivering pizzas for Peppinos where he worked for 11 years. Fishing, hunting, trips to the casinos, grilling for family and friends were his passions. Bill was a "loyal" friend to many, a very loving brother, and such a very special, caring, dedicated father to his daughters. Relatives and friends may meet the family Thursday, June 8 from 4-7 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (corner of Avery and Scott) 6651 Scott St., Allendale. Inurnment Allendale Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Hospice.
