Obituary

Remembering Wayne William Bush

Wayne William Bush, age 73, child of God, dearly loved, was called home April 12, 2022. His life reflected the love of Jesus to all who met him.

He was born in New Jersey and while going to Eastern Christian High school, met the love of his life, Elaine Greydanus. They both attended Calvin College. During those years he played basketball and soccer developing a love for sports, especially golf, and the friendships they brought. Wayne and Elaine married and after graduation settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Wayne soon joined his twin brother Warren at Russ’ Restaurant as a manager. His long career there influenced many with the joy and laughter he infused into each day.

His love of life created a warm, fun home where his children Stephanie, Meredith, Jordan, and Justin thrived. He loved Jesus, his family, his friends, and anyone who visited our home left feeling like part of the family. He welcomed many international students who found a home away from home. He was known for his smile, hugs, humor, and magnetic personality.

He will be lovingly remembered by the family he was so proud of: his beloved wife of 52 years, Elaine; his amazing children: Stephanie and Paul Kuhn, Meredith and Brad Mockabee, Jordan and Leah Bush, Justin and Kellisha Bush; and precious grandchildren: Grace, Aubrey, Ashlyn, Lauren, Hannah, Andrew, William, Ryan, Awna, Landon, and Alora. He is also survived by his best friend and twin, Warren Bush, brother Doug Bush, sisters: Marjorie Bush, Brenda Meyers, Joanne Koopmans and MANY family members and special friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Calvary Church, 707 E. Beltline Ave NE, Grand Rapids, with Pastor Jim Samra officiating. Visitation is Wednesday from 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. In lieu of flowers, please consider Child Fund International, (which Wayne supported for over 40 years) or Calvary Church’s Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund.

Legend.

I was saddened to learn of Wayne's passing. I've read many of Elaine's posts and have been praying for God's mercy for Wayne and his family. May God provide the comfort and sustaining power needed to the many people that were part of Wayne's life.

— Jim Veenstra

It is hard to know how many hands of pinochle Wayne and I shared with Dave S. & Ron C. our junior year at Calvin; Wayne and I lost, but the times were the best. May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace, and comfort to Elaine and all their loved ones especially in this time of the Resurrection. Albert

Elaine, Sue and I send our deepest sympathy to you and your family. We will miss Wayne tremendously....his friendly greeting as we came outside to look at the lake, mow the lawn, etc. And the occasional back and forth ribbing we participated in about the condition of our lawns, the beach, and anything else we could think of. His great sense of humor and positive outlook on life always brightened the day. He was the best neighbor I ever had and our only regret is that we didn't have the privilege to know him and enjoy his friendship longer than the 3 years we have lived here. He was a great guy who has enriched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Dearest Elaine and Family. You all fought valiantly and gave God all the glory for the victory in 2015 and continue to give Him the glory as Wayne received the victor's crown. Much Love, Sharon Ruff
