Wayne Dale Reed, age 73, of Grand Rapids, a veteran of the Vietnam War, lost his long and courageous battle with cancer on Friday, January 27, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis Reed; his children, Leslie (Bruce) Crittendon, Michael (Alison) Reed, Mike (Lisa) VanWormer, Christina (Mike) Green, Nicole (Jack) Arnold, Jon (Courteney) Reed; brothers and sisters, Larry (Deb) Reed, David (Janet) Reed, Marlene (Charlie) Willis, Trudy (Mike) Grace; seventeen grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He retired from Dayton Freight after 17 years of driving trucks. His passions were barbecuing and cooking; judging barbeque and chili cook-offs; breeding, riding, and showing paint horses; riding his Harley with friends, but most of all, spending time with his family. A celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at the American Legion Hall Post 208, 133 44th Street SE, Kentwood MI, 49548 on Saturday, February 4, 2023, from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in his honor.
