Wayne Anton Medendorp, Sr., born on September 13, 1930, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, August 18, 2017. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. John and Wilhelmina Medendorp; brothers, Peter (Virginia), Rev. John C. (Christine), Keith (Sheryl); sister, Marguerite (Hank) VanderLeest; and son-in-law, Duane (Sharon) Timmermans. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Genevieve (Doornbos); children, John, Sharon Timmermans, Wayne Jr. (Vickie), Randal (Betty); 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. Wayne taught at Manhattan Christian School in Montana. He worked for CRC World Missions, the Federal Government in Chicago, the Washington Education Association in Seattle as Treasurer, and for CRWRC. Wayne had a strong belief in “helping those in need and the less fortunate than ourselves” as Christ taught. He loved to spend time with his family and listen to stories from the past. A Memorial Service for Wayne will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at Brookside Christian Reformed Church, 3600 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Paul DeVries officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the church on Wednesday from 12 pm - 2 pm prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Christian Reformed World Renew.

Dear Gen, Randy & Betty, Sharon & families; I express my deepest sympathy to you all in the passing of your dear husband and father, Wayne. May God embrace you with His love and comfort in this difficult time and help to ease the sorrow and sadness you feel. I know Wayne will be deeply missed, yet lovingly remembered. Sure do miss you all at Indian Lake!--You were great neighbors! Sorry I am not able to see you in person at the Memorial service today, but my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family today and in the days ahead. Via Internet GR Press Obits I was informed of Waynes"s continuing Eternal Journey. With joy I remember Wayne and the great years we had working together as CRWRC (now World Renew) staff members! May God's blessings and love surround you in the days, months and years ahead!!
