Virginia Fae (Van Houten) Kok, age 87, of Hudsonville, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 11th, 2023. Virginia met her husband, David, at Holland State Park. They were married on September 25th,1958. They were blessed by God with 4 children, Don, Sheryl, Kim, and Tamara. She and David enjoyed traveling, and in their retirement years, they spent much time at their condo in Alabama, going on cruises, and numerous trips to Iowa. Virginia was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who treasured her family. She was blessed with a great sense of humor and was a faithful prayer warrior who always put others before herself. Virginia took great joy in supporting her family in all of their activities, especially attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was always active, had lots of energy, and especially enjoyed working in her flower gardens. Virginia was a long-time member of Baldwin Street CRC, serving with her time and talents in many ways. She displayed her gift of caring for others by sending encouraging notes and taking the time to listen. Her love for Jesus and family was evident to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, David; sister, Jan Pylman; and brother-in-law, Bill Sterk. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Donald and Wanda Kok, Sheryl and Steve Chittenden, Kim and Rodney Schutte, Tamara and Randy Ritsema; grandchildren, Nick Kok and Cheyenne Snoderly, Roxi and Richie Diaz, Ben Kok, Jackie Kok, Laura Chittenden, Cari and Wesley Mayle, Paul Chittenden, Aaron and Katie Schutte, Zachariah and Amy Schutte, Ashley Schutte, Brianna and Sam Brown, Caleb Schutte, Colton Ritsema, Jacob Ritsema; nine great-grandchildren plus one soon to arrive; her siblings, Henry Pylman, Marlene Sterk, Esther Burgess, Jack and Sue Van Houten, Phyllis and Ron Smouse; and many loving nieces and nephews. A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 26th, 2023 at Baldwin St. Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison, MI. The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Don VanSlyke and the burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10-11 a.m. prior to the funeral service at the church. Those who wish to make memorial contributions may do so to Baldwin Street CRC Benevolence Fund.
