Victoria Shea Garraus

Victoria Shea Garraus, a senior at Byron Center High school in Bryon Township, MI died unexpectedly on March 13, 2015 at the age of 17. Victoria was born May 20, 1997 in Greeley, Colorado. Victoria and her father moved to Florida when her mother, Heather Garraus, tragically died in 2007. In 2013, Victoria had moved in with family friends, the Seese’s, in Byron Township, MI, seeking a more diverse academic curriculum and to complete her Junior and Senior year. In the summer of 2014, she had started working at Gordmans and enjoyed her job. In February 2015, she had been recognized for being a great employee, which brought her great pride. Victoria had mentioned her discount to purchase clothing almost outweighed the fun she had with the people there. She also mentioned that she wished there was a Gordmans in Florida which she could work at while attending college. Her plan was to move back to Florida after graduation and join her father while attending State College of Florida and expand her knowledge in computers and learn computer graphics. Victoria was a part of the artist community and an active member in various areas of the arts at BCHS. She was a wiz at technology, had a sarcastic sweet nature, loved to kid around, was great in art, had an eye for fashion, was a dedicated gamer, loved fishing, was an old soul, and knew what she liked and didn’t like. She will be very missed by many who loved her. Victoria was survived by her father, Ignacio Garraus, grandfather, Julian Garraus, Uncle John Garraus, Aunt Wendy Jones, Uncle Troy Jones, and her cousin, Kalynn Jones, as well as devoted family friend, Jayme Harris. A Roman Catholic memorial service was held for Victoria and family Friday March 20, at 1 PM at the Palms-Robarts, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, Florida with Father Michael Scheip officiating. Victoria was buried with her mother on Friday March 20, 2015.
