Vernon Gross

Vernon Gross, age 76, of Caledonia, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, November 6, 2019. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Valeree, of 54 years; children, Matthew and Marsha Gross (Jack) of Alaska, David Gross and Erin Osman of Holland (Ashlee, Chase, Bryce), Kim and Lauren Wright of Grand Rapids; great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Felix, Evelyn May, and a baby boy on the way; aunt and uncle, Marv and Joy Poelmen; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Throughout his life, Vernon enjoyed his time outdoors.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, exploring, and taking care of the home he built with his wife. He was also dedicated, loyal, hardworking and handy. He was a craftsman whose greatest tools were his hands. Vernon was known as a perpetuous jokester who easily had everyone in the room laughing with his humor. Above all he loved his family. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who constantly took time out of his way to care for them and others. Memorial services will be held 6pm Wednesday, November 13  at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 616 E. Main St. SE, Caledonia, with Rev. Steven Poelmen officiating.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home and also on Wednesday from 5-6 pm prior to the service.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to MDS Foundation.
