Verna Baker

Verna Jane (Vreugdenhil) Baker, age 93, of Jenison, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 6, 2021. She was preceded in death by Ralph, her husband of 69 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her children, David and Mary Baker, Ron and Julie Baker, Laurel and John Ourensma, Tim Baker, Ken and Brenda Baker, Glenda and Brent Wassink; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 2 step great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Altena; sisters-in-law, Sharon Vreugdenhil, Grada Kiel; and many nieces and nephews. Verna and Ralph served their Lord with the Tiv people in Nigeria for 35 years with Christian Reformed World Missions. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at 12 noon at Baldwin Street Christian Reformed Church, 2101 Baldwin St., Jenison, with Rev. Ron Baker and Rev. Brent Wassink officiating and John Ourensma at the organ. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the church on Wednesday from 11:00-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Masks and social distancing are required. Burial will be at Georgetown Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Resonate Global Mission, dedicated to ministries with the Tiv people of Nigeria.
