Ventis Arins, age 75, of Kentwood, was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Vilnis and Mary Arins.  He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Geri; sister, Ilze Sue and Alfred Opas; sisters-in-law, Gladys and Randy Bruwer, Cindy Heminger, Barb and Warren Morrison, Linda and Rob Pyard; nieces and nephews, Josh and Kristen Bruwer, Matt and Amber Bruwer, Lisa Bruwer, Brooke Heminger, Jason Pyard, Marco and Ashley Zapata, Christopher Opas, Greg and Alethea Opas; great nieces and nephews, Addison and Emma Bruwer, Brody and Madyson Brant, Rowen and Abrie Zapata, Palmer Pyard; many cousins and dear friends.  Vent valiantly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.  Vent was an outgoing, congenial, person who loved doing crossword puzzles as well as fishing, bowling and golf.  He was a loving husband to his wife of 41 years, Geri and was devoted to his many nieces and nephews and loved having them around.  The family would like to thank Medilodge of Wyoming and Kindred Hospice for the loving care that Ventis received.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Saturday, October 19 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Hall St. SE, Grand Rapids, with Rev. Ted Kozlowski officiating.  Interment Resurrection Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family Friday from 4-8 pm with a Vigil Service at 7:30 pm at Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home, 4646 Kalamazoo Ave. SE, Kentwood.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church or the West Michigan Humane Society.
