Twyla Marie Smoes, age 84, of Allendale, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Glen Smoes; her parents; her siblings; and her niece, Jackie.  She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Mark and Jodi Smoes, Kim and Tom Sullivan, Kyle and Suzanne Smoes, Tim Smoes; grandchildren, Briquel and German Armenta, Aaron Smoes, Nick and Taylor Smoes, Erik and Alyssia Smoes, Stefanie Smoes, Brooke Smoes, Jacklyn Smoes, Ryan Smoes; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, and Leilani; sister-in-law, Sharon Smoes; several nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.  Twyla was a dedicated mom and a proud grandma. She loved traveling, especially to Maui, Hawaii. Twyla enjoyed attending Allendale High School athletic and fine arts events. She was a big supporter and advocate for the building of the Ottawa Area Center. Twyla enjoyed her various jobs, especially being a switchboard operator at Michigan Bell and GVSC, and a receptionist at Herman Miller. The family would like to extend special thanks to Bruce and Kim Hobbins and family for their help through the years.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at 11 a.m. at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf, 6651 Scott St., Allendale, with her nephew, Pastor Larry Gilbert officiating.   The burial will take place at Allendale Township Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may meet the family on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.  Masks are required for the visitation and the funeral service.  Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Special Olympics Michigan.
