Truda Jonker

It pleased the Lord to take unto His own, Truda Adah Jonker, aged 98, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, where she is triumphantly living with her God for all eternity. She was born to Henry and Petrinella “Nellie” Bastianse on July 18, 1926, one of five daughters who all preceded her in death. She married Cornelius Jonker on June 2, 1947. Cornie and Truda celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary June 2, 2024, after which the Lord took Cornie to be with Him in glory just one month later. Together, the Lord blessed them with six children who mourn her passing; Don and Jacque Jonker, Philip and Linda Jonker, Darlene and John Graeser, Marilyn and Eric Ophoff, Laurie and Bernie Kamps, and Sharon and Eugene Kamps. She also had 23 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren in glory, and five great-great-grandchildren. Her dear friend, Ruth Elzinga, also mourns her passing. Truda always had a smile and a welcome for everyone that came to visit, from dear friends to all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was a godly example to her family and lived her life praising her Lord in many ways including singing solos and duets with her late husband, Cornie. Truda was a dear treasure to her family and friends. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 30, at 11 a.m. at Grandville Protestant Reformed Church, 4320 40th St., Grandville, with Rev. Nathan Decker officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Monday, from 10-11 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Following the service there will be a light lunch for all and an opportunity for the family to receive condolences from friends and relatives. A private graveside service will be held at Rosedale Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of Sunset Manor for all their diligent and loving care. Also the family thanks the Corewell Health Hospice staff for their amazing care and support. The family respectfully requests that those who attend refrain from wearing essential oils, perfumes and colognes.
