Tracey Bruursema

Tracey entered in to the arms of Jesus at 12:30 am Saturday morning.  Though he suffered for many years from several severe illnesses, Tracey never gave up fighting or lost his positive attitude. He was a kind and loving husband, father, and friend. Those who knew him will remember Tracey’s love for the outdoors as he could often be found hunting, fishing, or bird watching. Tracey was also very artistic, but never sold any of his art – choosing to give it away instead.

Tracey had a passion for selling fruits and veggies from his beloved veggie stand (Papa’s Produce) which was made by his brother Ron Oppenhuizen - who passed away October 27, 2018. Much like a uniform, Tracey proudly wore his plaid button-down shirts every day. Those special shirts, and his commitment to serving his customers, are what made Tracey so popular and memorable with both his regular customers and most residents within his hometown.

Tracey will be deeply missed by his wife of 40 years, Glennie, who was truly the love of his life, his children Tiffany, Tylea, Katey, and Bear, and his granddaughters Teagan, Julie, Nola, and Maggie. He also leaves behind brothers and sisters Scott and Nancy, Robin and Randy, Sheri, Roger and Wanda, Stan and Debbie, Darl and MJ, and Connie and Joe. He will be missed by many other children who called him Dad, or Papa, many nieces and nephews who he loved like his own, and his dear and special friends Dave and Pat, and Jim and Chris. They were his family. He loved each of them quietly, fiercely, and always without judgement.

Tracey’s life will be celebrated on Sunday, April 14th at Real Life Fellowship Church, located at 609 W 20th St, Holland, MI 49423.  Visitation will be held from 3-4 with the service and a meal to follow at 4pm.  Attendees are encouraged to also wear a plaid shirt in honor of Tracey.
