Family owned and operated for over 85 years.
Tommy Farr Kooiker, Jr. went to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the age of 62. He will be greatly missed by family and friends-everyone who met him quickly called him a friend.
Tom loved spending time with his family, whether at his home on Big Brower Lake where he could beat them in all card games, or on the sidelines of his grandchildren’s sporting events where he would be their biggest fan. When he’s not cheering on his grandkids, you could find him cheering on the Lions (a faithful lifelong fan, even all the years that they were awful!), the Wolverines as they won the Rose Bowl and National Title, or his favorite baseball team, the Tigers. He showed his love through constant teasing, devotion of his time, and unfailing patience (especially for his wife who is constantly late). Tom was deeply committed to his relationship with Christ and centered that in all he did. We are comforted by the promise of Heaven and the hope that we will someday be reunited with him. He was a quiet man, although you wouldn’t know that if you heard him singing off tune in church or loudly laughing at his own jokes, and it was this quiet demeanor and selflessness that made him everyone’s steady rock.
Tom is survived by his wife of 42 years, Holly (Noor); four children, Tommy, Josh, Marie (Scott Endres), and Drew (Renee); grandchildren, Aleasha, Melissah, Trevor, Shealynn, Elin, Declan, Corbin, Landon, and Avery; mother, Darla Kooiker; siblings, Tereasa (Bart) Vander Iest, Kathy (Tim) Hoffman, Sandy (Greg) Klifman, Tim (Kelley) Kooiker, and Jason (Jen) Kooiker. He is also survived by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ed and Luella Noor; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Tracie (Neil) Swanson, Thom (Gwen) Noor, Sheila (Matt) Drenth; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Hanley Christian Reformed Church, 0-372 Jackson St., Grandville with Pastor Bill Flavin officiating. Burial will take place at Floral View Memorial Gardens. Relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday 5-8 pm at Matthysse Kuiper DeGraaf Funeral Home (Grandville) 4145 Chicago Dr. SW. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to World Renew.
