Tim Tamminga

Tim Raymond Tamminga, age 55, of Alto, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, May 17, 2026. After a courageous five-year battle with cancer, Tim was called to his heavenly home. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis “Luke” and Eleanor Tamminga; brother, Brian Tamminga; sister, Lisa Kamps; and father-in-law, Ronald Rozema. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 27 years, Kristin Tamminga; children, Dustin Tamminga, Shelby (Jared) DenHartigh, Jaimee Tamminga, Levi Tamminga; granddaughter, Blakely as well as a second grandchild on the way; brother, Todd Tamminga; mother-in-law, Joanne Rozema; siblings-in-law, Jeff (Angel) Rozema, Paul Kamps, Melissa (Adam) Todd; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. 

Tim was born on February 22, 1971, to Louis and Eleanor Tamminga. He attended Jenison Christian School, Unity Christian High School, and later studied HVAC at Grand Rapids Community College. In 1997, Tim founded Alto Heating & Cooling, where he built not only a successful business, but also lasting relationships within the community through his hard work, honesty, and dedication.

In December of 1998, Tim married the love of his life, Kristin (Rozema), and together they built a beautiful life in Alto, Michigan, centered on faith, family, and laughter. Tim treasured every moment spent with his family. He loved taking them jet skiing, dirt biking, snowmobiling, and hunting, and he especially enjoyed cheering on his children at their sporting events.

Tim was known for his incredible work ethic and for passing those values on to his children. Anyone who stopped by was often lovingly recruited to lend a hand on whatever project was underway. He also had a deep love for animals, never hesitating to rescue a stray dog or cat — and, much to his family’s amusement, eventually adding cattle to the mix as well.

Above all, Tim was a devoted follower of Christ. His quiet, humble faith was the foundation of his life and a legacy he faithfully passed on to his children. Through his steadfast trust in God, Tim found strength and perseverance during his courageous journey with cancer.

The family is profoundly grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support they have received throughout this journey. They extend heartfelt thanks to their church family at Caledonia CRC, to their family and friends,and to the dedicated doctors and nurses at The Cancer and Hematology Center, and Corewell Health Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Caledonia Christian Reformed Church, 9967 Cherry Valley Ave SE, Caledonia, with Pastor Scott Greenway officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, May 26, from 4-7 p.m. at the church and on Wednesday from 3-3:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service. The burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery.
