Tillie Geers

On Monday, June 2, 2025, heaven gained a beautiful soul of Tillie Geers (Hoogland), aged 91, of Jenison, and is now home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, John; her grandson, Brian Blackmore; and brother, Cornie Hoogland. Tillie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cal and Kathy Geers, Sue and Tom Blackmore; grandchildren, Bradley and Sarah Geers, Daniel and Jennifer Geers, Jared and Katie Geers, Lisa and Jeremy Johnson, Holly and Matt Hoevenaar; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Moget, Pete and Carol Hoogland, Al and Lois Hoogland, Greta Bronsink, Harold Hoogland, Marvin and Bev Hoogland; and several other extended family members. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 9, 2025, at Cottonwood Church, 1101 Cypress Dr., Jenison, with Pastor Matt Palsrok officiating. Burial will take place at Georgetown Township Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family Monday from 10-11 am at church prior to the service. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Sunset Legacy Foundation.

We are thankful and blessed to know Tillie and John. Her determination to attend church services at Cottonwood is inspiring and we were honored to bring her there until she could no longer get into our vehicle. She always had a smile when I met her in the hallways of Sunset, even when she couldn’t say anything, she always smiled.

Many years ago, Doug and John served in the Cadet program together which meant Tillie and I did our fair share also (specifically helping with the famous light bulb sale). She was a very dedicated fan of Cadets, faithfully working along side John for many years. She was a sweet lady.
